Collection: tulips are here!

This is my third year growing cold season tulips and I am excited to share many beautiful, well-grown varieties with you. I grow carefully selected specialty tulips here in Pownal, VT--elegant singles, lush double flowered, parrots and fringed in a rainbow of colors. My tulips are chosen for their suitability as cut flowers, and I cut them at the perfect time for maximal vase life.

Tulips are the most popular flower in the word for several reasons: they ship and store well, they can be programmed or forced to grow on a schedule, and they are near infinitely varied and combine well with most any other flower. If you grow tulips or are a flower lover you see tulips every time you watch TV. For prop stylists, real estate fluffers, baby shower planners, food bloggers, bodgega managers: bunched tulips are the go-to. Tulips last long in a vase with little care* and they are my primary flower from January through May.

*For longest life: keep away from heat and light, fresh water in a clean vessel, re-trim ends and replace water regularly.

My fresh cut, specialty tulips aren't like balls-of-color tulips you buy in the grocery store. Like "inexpensive" food and clothing, cheap flowers carry significant costs. Industrial flower workers suffer chemical burns. Many flower workers are women and exposure to toxic flower-industry chemicals have been shown to cause neurological damage to workers' children in utero. These flowers sit in coolers for a long time, hence why they often collapse when taken into a warm room.

Flown flowers cannot match locally grown. Fresh local tulips are still alive, bending towards the light. Think about a peach picked green and stored in a cooler. It turns to cardboard in your mouth. What about a warm, perfectly ripe busting-at-the-skin peach? I guarantee a cheap imported tulip will not last in the vase or open as beautifully like a fresh-cut locally grown tulip.

For larger quantities of tulips choose tulip bucket or variety-specific wholesale tulips.
